Curtain Dress

The curtains at my first apartment were a huge eyesore. They were so dark and thick, they made my room feel tiny. After replacing them with a brighter colour, I decided to sew this winter dress! To balance out the heaviness of the fabric and break up the sea of navy, I added a bold plunging neckline and opted for a shorter hemline. I was also able to hide two huge pockets among the ruffles.

To pay homage to the curtains, I used an extra wide hem at the bottom of the skirt, similar to what you see on most curtains.

This curtain dress made an appearance in my holiday card with my roommates, and I sewed a matching shirt and bowtie out of the remaining fabric for my roommates to wear!
